LAYERS FOR PLAYERS: OJ SS16 COLLECTION
Oscar Jacobson’s Spring/Summer 16 collection embraces more than ever before the growing desire among golfers for fashionable attire that looks equally at home on and off the course, affording the ultimate crossover between golf and fashion wear. With a blend of proven performers and stylish newcomers, the SS16 collection mixes performance-enhancing fabrics with eye-catching fashion statements to help golfers look and play their best in the serious part of the golfing year.
Scandinavian apparel specialist, Oscar Jacobson, is blessed with a reputation going back many decades for stylish, high-quality golf apparel, and a rich heritage in fashion tailoring that dates all the way back to 1903. But heritage should not stand in the way of progress, and Oscar Jacobson has never been afraid to move forwards and innovate. The latest move sees the Spring/Summer 2016 golf collection fall under the broader OJ Sport umbrella in recognition of the ever more blurred boundaries between golf wear and everyday wear. The stunning new collection presents garments that will look equally at home on the golf course or out and about in town or country.
Busy, active lifestyles mean that multi-functionality is more important that ever before, so if golfers don’t want to, or don’t have time to, change before or after a round, they really shouldn’t have to. Equally, they should be able to wear what you wear on the golf course away from it without fear of looking out of place. “As well as our key golf lines, we have styles that are multi-functional,” explains Carl-Johan Frisk, Collection Manager for Oscar Jacobson Sport, in presenting the OJ SS16 collection. “Our new range will look and perform great on the course, but also work away from the course.”
Of course, there’s no need to completely change a winning-formula, so OJ’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection retains the best of 2015, while introducing an exciting raft of stylish newcomers.
Oscar Jacobson knows only too well that different golfers want different things from their apparel, so the Spring/Summer 2016 collection is available in four colour themes – Resort for a more classic look majoring on blues, yellows and whites, plus Club, a reflection of the wider fashion industry’s influences, mixing white with added contrast colours to create a sophisticated, yet sporty look. Beyond that, black, red (and white) form the key colours in the signature colour theme, while the Performance theme features a striking electric green alongside greys and blacks.
LAYERS FOR PLAYERS
Many of the new garments for SS16 can be combined to deliver the ultimate in protection, comfort and style thanks to Oscar Jacobson’s three-layer Weather Protection System (WPS).
Starting with the light, breathable base layers closest to your body, their key role is to wick moisture away from your skin to keep you comfortable. For spring/summer 2016, an eclectic polo shirt collection sees head-turning patterned or mixed-colour newcomers such as Lyndon, Jules and Kay join ageless classics like Alfie, Collin and Anton in the base layer line-up.
Mid layers help you retain body heat while further wicking away moisture, keeping you warm and comfortable from head to toe. Warm body, cool head is the ideal combo for putting together that ‘personal best’. New for 2016, the extrafine cotton Bobby and Bogart, available in a wide colour palette, are on hand for those summer days when an extra layer is required.
The outer layers are then the final piece of the jigsaw for those unseasonal days when the clouds open or the temperature refuses to rise. Protection is the goal here, whether from wind or rain, in a light windproof or watertight package that lets you swing freely still. The new Hartmann waterproof jacket seamlessly blends style with function, boasting eye-catching accents in a top expressly designed to keep the water out thanks to its two-layer waterproof construction with fully taped seams. If warmth is the goal, Clemens is a new ultralight padded anorak featuring Primaloft ® padding material, which creates the extra warmth required without adding bulk.
OJ Sports’ impressive spring/summer 2016 collection has been created to equip golfers like never before to deal with whatever the elements have in store, whether sun, wind, rain, cold or warmth.
