JPX921 HOT METAL IRONS NAMED MYGOLFSPY ‘MOST WANTED’ 2020

BACK-TO-BACK WINS FOR JPX HOT METAL IN MYGOLFSPY’S ‘MOST WANTED’ GAME IMPROVEMENT IRONS TEST

For a second straight year, cult equipment website MyGolfSpy.com has named Mizuno JPX irons ‘Most Wanted’ in the ‘Game Improvement’ category.

Founded in Osaka, Japan in 1906, Mizuno has long held an enviable industry- and tour-wide reputation for crafting the finest irons on the market. This latest award builds on a growing reputation for Mizuno’s JPX iron series among both professionals and amateur players. In 2019, the JPX919 family of irons completed a clean sweep in the MyGolfSpy awards with the JPX919 Hot Metal named ‘Most Wanted’ in the ‘Game Improvement’ category, the JPX919 Forged named ‘Most Wanted’ ‘Players Distance’ iron and the JPX919 Tour named ‘Most Wanted’ ‘Players’ iron of 2019.

“We are extremely pleased to have MyGolfSpy’s ‘Most Wanted’ award in the Game Improvement category for a second year running,” said Chris Voshall from Mizuno USA. “Mizuno is no longer pigeonholed as a manufacturer of simply ‘Players’ irons. Winning consumer tests with irons like the JPX921 Hot Metal is a nice balance to the wins on tour that golfers have come to expect from us.”

MyGolfSpy claims its test is the world’s most comprehensive, with 18 of the top game-improvement models put to the test and thousands of shots hit with a long, mid and short iron. A proprietary method is used to determine ‘Strokes Gained’ values for each combination of tester and golf club tested. The irons with the highest Strokes Gained values receive ‘Most Wanted’ status.

The Mizuno JPX921 Hot Metal irons performed extremely consistently and were among the leaders in the test for strokes gained in both long and short irons. Testers cited the feel, looks and performance of the JPX921 Hot Metal irons as positives and the general consensus was the irons “Ticked all the boxes.”

The JPX921 Hot Metal irons deliver Mizuno’s fastest ever ball speeds, a piercingly straight ball flight together with controllable landing angles. The JPX921 Hot Metal represent the 3rd generation of Mizuno irons to utilise the resilience of Chromoly – R&D generally accepts that any new technology needs three generations to reach near-optimal performance.

The JPX921 features Mizuno’s most complex face geometry to date, to produce additional energy from the clubface; the Hot Metal Pro version offering a more compact profile with reduced offset.

The use of Chromoly 4140M and a re-engineered CORTECH face, now 0.2mm thinner across the centre point, creates exceptional ball speeds. These are further enhanced by the Seamless Cup Face featuring a variable thickness sole design that allows the leading edge to act as a hinge, generating greater flex.

Three additional sound ribs produce a more solid sensation at impact while extreme perimeter weighting and toe bias in Mizuno’s Stability Frame help to deliver greater consistency from off-centre strikes.

“The introduction of Chromoly was the breakthrough Mizuno needed to take a step up in ball speed. We learn more about the potential of Chromoly with each generation and push it further each time,” says David Llewellyn Director of R&D for Mizuno.

Mizuno has become recognised the world over as a clear leader in irons for players of all abilities and this test-winning performance by the JPX921 Hot Metal only serves to enhance that reputation. #ReachBeyond
